A few facts about the building:
- the building costs were an estimated 120 million US Dollars.
- designed by Edward Durell Stone & Associates and Perkins and Will Corporation;
- the skyscraper's facade is comprised of 43,000 marble panels;
- the original Italian marble facade didn't endure the harsh Chicago winters for very long:
the building was completely refurbished with granite at the beginning of the Nineties;
costs of this were about 60 million US Dollars (half of the original building costs);
- the building is the tallest 'box-shaped' skyscraper in the world;
- the building changed its name twice:
it was built as Standard Oil Building, then changed its name to Amoco Building,
and in 2001 to Aon Center;
- in 1998 and 2003, the building was sold for an estimated 435 million and 475 million US Dollars respectively;
