Eric Bernard was a promising French driver
who never got the break he needed in Formula 1to become one of its stars.
His career was disrupted at the end of 1991, when he crashed heavily and fractured his legs
during practice for the Japanese Grand Prix. Complications meant he wasn't able to make
a return to racing in 1992 and 1993. He did in 1994 with Ligier and scored the best finish
of his career, when he finished 3rd at the German Grand Prix.
But, it was not enough to keep his seat in Formula 1.
After his F1 career Eric successfully drove sportscars.
Something he has been doing to this day.

In 1988 and 1989, Eric Bernard drove two years in Formula 3000.
He won one race in 1989 and finished 8th in the 1988 and 3rd in the 1989 championships.
