Adrian Campos is a Spanish driver who made it into Formula 1
largely thanks to sponsorship, and not really because of his driving talents.
Although it is fair to say, that he didn't have the material to compete properly,
his best result was a disappointing 14th place at his home Grand Prix in 1987.
After a few non-qualifications in 1988, he was replaced at Minardi and his F1 career over.
Next he turned his attention to touring car racing and was more successful.
In 1994 he won the Spanish Touring Car Champion.
After his retirement from racing he set up his own racing team
in the Open Fortuna by Nissan Series paving the way to success for drivers
like Marc Gene (1998) (Ferrari test driver) and Fernando Alonso (1999).
Currently, Campos runs a team (Campos Motorsport) in the GP2 category.
