Above: Johnny Cecotto at Spa-Francorchamps 1982,
in his Formula 2 March, waiting for the race to begin.
Johnny Cecotto was a former motorbike World Champion
(750cc, 1978), who made the switch from two to four wheels.
He made his debut in 1980 in Formula 2 with Minardi,
and in 1982, he finished runner-up in the championship to Corrado Fabi,
with three wins, and only one point behind.
In 1983, he made his Formula 1 debut with Theodore,
and in only his second Grand Prix he managed to get a (his only) point.
His F1 career abruptly ended when he broke both his legs after a crash
at the British Grand Prix of 1984.
Johnny later made himself quite a name in touring car racing,
winning championships in both Germany and Italy.
