Ukyo Katayama has had a moderately successful career in motor-racing.
In 1991, he won the Japanese Formula 3000 Championship and
after that graduated to Formula 1. He stayed in F1 for six season
scoring points on three occasions; all three in 1994 with Tyrrell.
In 1999, he finished 2nd with Toyota in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
After his motor-racing career, Ukyo became a mountaineer,
climbing among others the Mount Everest.
