Oscar Larrauri was European Formula 3 champion in 1982.
After this he unsuccessfully tried Formula 2 with Minardi.
With no possibility of a Formula 1 seat he started racing sportscars instead,
and from 1984-1987 he raced for Walter Brun's sportscar team.
When Walter Brun decided to try his luck in Formula 1,
it was no surprise that one of the team's drivers would be their sportscar star Larrauri.
It was a disaster. Both for EuroBrun and for Larrauri.
In 1988 and 1989, Oscar only managed to qualify himself for eight Grand Prix.
13 times he failed to either qualify or pre-qualify. His best finish was a 13th place.
After his Formula 1 career, Larrauri kept on racing sportscars.
At the end of the Nineties he returned to South America where he started racing touring cars.
In 1997, 1998 and 2000 he was SudAm Super Touring Car Champion.
A few years ago, Oscar retired from racing to become a politician for the Sante Fe province.
But in 2005 he made a surprise return in the Argentine Top Race V6 series.
