Dr. Jonathan Palmer (he has had medical training and is qualified as a doctor)
won the British Formula 3 championship in 1981 and the European F2 championship two years later.
Formula 1 was the logical next step and he made his debut with Williams at the end of 1983.
At Brands Hatch in a third Williams; a race he finished in 13th position.
He got full drives the next few years with RAM and Zakspeed,
but it only brought him lots of frustration, no points, and two 8th places as best results.
The next three years he spent with Tyrrell, and although there were points and some good drives,
it didn't bring him the success he deserved to have.
At the end of 1989 he was without a Formula 1 drive, but was able to act as McLaren's test driver.
In 1993, he took over as TV commentator for the BBC from James Hunt,
who had passed away. Palmer did this for two seasons.
Jonathan is the entrepeneur behind the Formula Palmer Audi (FPA) Junior series,
a motor-racing series for upcoming talents. One of the talents that made his way up
from FPA is Justin Wilson, now one of Champcars top drivers. Wilson is also managed by Palmer.
More recently, Palmer became one of the owners of four British racing tracks.

That year Palmer won the Norisring 200 miles Group C race with Mauro Baldi.
It was the only Group C victory of his career.
