Gabriele Tarquini is the Formula 1 driver with the most did not pre qualify results
in the entire history of Formula 1 (25 times). A further 15 times
he was able to get through pre-qualifying, but didn't qualify.
It's fair to say, that this wasn't because Gabriele was a driver with no talent.
Far from, Tarquini was a driver who had lots of talent, but who didn't have the equipment
while driving Formula 1 to show it. The Osella's, Coloni's, AGS', Fondmetal's and Tyrrell's
he drove where all inferior cars that didn't match his driving abilities.
So, it's rather sad that his talent was wasted as a backmarker in Formula 1.
In five years of Formula 1 (he drove one race in 1987 and one in 1995),
his best result was a 6th place with AGS in 1989 in the Mexican Grand Prix.
After his Formula 1 career Tarquini became a very successful
touring car driver. He was British touring car champion in 1994.
He still races in touring cars (WTCC with Alfa Romeo) to this day.
