Above: five separate shots of the stretched and impressive skyline of Hong Kong island,
and one taken from The Peak. The skyline seen on the first five pictures covers an area of about 4 km in length.
On the first picture, you can see the Fortress Hill area, with the 180m/591f AIA Tower as tallest skyscraper.
On the second picture, you see the Causeway Bay area, with Manulife Plaza as tallest (240m/789f).
The Wanchai area is on the third picture, with Central Plaza rising above it all (374m/1,227f).
On the fourth picture, you can see the Admiralty area of Hong Kong Island,
with Bank of China Tower (367m/1,205f) and Cheung Kong Centre (283m/928f) as tallest buildings.
The fifth picture is the most recent one (2004) and shows the Central and Sheung Wan areas,
with Two International Finance Center (415m/1,362f) and The Center (346m/1,135f) as tallest buildings.

Above left: Hopewell Centre (216m/709f, 64 stories, 1980),
Hong Kong's tallest from 1980 until 1989, when the Bank of China Tower was completed.
Above middle left: Sun Hung Kai Centre (215m/704f, 56 stories, 1991),
with on the left next to it, 333 Lockhart Road (201m/660f, 52 stories, 2000).
Above middle: Victoria Towers 1, 2 and 3 (all three: 213m/699f, 62 stories, 2003).
One of the tallest residential complexes in Hong Kong.
Above right: two pictures of One International Finance Centre (1 IFC) (210m/689f, 38 stories, 1999).

Above left: 333 Lockhart Road (201m/660f, 52 stories, 2000), seen from the front and back.
With the signboard on top, the building even reaches a height of 215m/705f.
Above middle: Shangri-La Hotel (213m/700f, 57 stories, 1991), with standing on the left in front of it,
Queensway Government Office Building (199m/652f, 56 stories, 1985).
Above right: two pictures of Sino Plaza (185m/607f, 38 stories, 1992).
On the first one, you can see on the left next to it Top Glory Tower (135m/444f, 35 stories, unknown).

Above: my two favorite buildings of Hong Kong:
the magnificent Lippo Centre I (172m/564f, 44 stories, 1988)
and Lippo Centre II (186m/610f, 48 stories, 1988) buildings.

Above: another very distinctive and beautiful building of Hong Kong:
the Hong Kong Bank Headquarters, a.k.a. Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank (179m/587f, 47 stories, 1985).
It cost more than US$ 670m to build this skyscraper.
Next to it, is the (brown coloured) Standard Chartered Bank (185m/607f, 42 stories, 1990).

Above left: Jardine House (179m/586f, 52 stories, 1973).
After completion in 1973, this was Hong Kong's (and Asia's!!) tallest building.
It remained Hong Kong's tallest for seven years, until 1980, when Hopewell Centre was completed.
Above middle: the golden coloured Far East Finance Center (176m/578f, 48 stories, 1982).
Above right: One Peking Road (160m/525f, 30 stories, 2003).
It's one of the first buildings in the world that gets part of its electricity and power needs from Solar energy.

Above left: the top of Bank of Communications Tower (155m/509f, 33 stories, 1996).
The height is to the tip of the tower.
Above middle: May House (206m/674f, 47 stories, 2004),
the new police force headquarters of Hong Kong.
Above right: Bank of China Center (131m/429f, 27 stories, 2000).
With its height of 131 metres this would make an impressive building in a lot of cities,
but not in Hong Kong. On the list of tallest buildings of the city, it ranks somewhere near to #360...
The building can be found on Kowloon.
At the moment, Hong Kong has some 7,250 registered high-rises
(with more than 12 stories, or taller than 35 metres),
and some 275 are currently under construction.

Above: among those currently under construction are The Victory Arch (left; 231m/758f, 65 stories),
and Four Seasons Place (right; 205m/672f, 55 stories). Both should be completed by the end of 2004.
For 2005, 2006, and 2007 even taller buildings are planned to be completed:
Union Square Phase 6 Tower (265m/869f, 68 stories, 2006),
Hanoi Road Development (275m/902f, 69 stories, 2006),
Nina tower I (319m/1,046f, 80 stories, 2005), and last but not least,
Union Square Phase 7 Tower (474m/1,555f, 111 stories, 2007).
