Jersey City, New Jersey, is a town that lies adjecent to New York City, only divided by the Hudson River.
The city has about 240,000 inhabitants and its history goes back to the 1620s,
when the Dutch bought the land comprising of what is now known as Jersey City from the Indians.
The first house was built there in 1633, while in 1820 the city was incorporated as The City of Jersey
and reincorporated under its present name in 1838.
Jersey City's main attraction can be found on Liberty Island, namely the Statue of Liberty,
which isn't part of New York City, like most people think it is, but of Jersey City.

Above: five pictures of 30 Hudson Street, seen from different parts of Lower Manhattan, New York City.
It's currently the tallest building in New Jersey (238m/781f, 42 stories, 2004),
and the building that more than warrants Jersey City's addition to the Skyscraper Picture Collection.
On the left to the building, the Colgate clock can be seen.
This clock, promoted by Colgate as the largest in the world, is a little more than 15 metres in diameter (50 feet).
The clock weighs 2,200 pounds and was erected in 1924.

Unfortunately, there are no Jersey City pictures taken
from inside the city itself. Bad weather prevented this.
One reason to go back some day...
