Rotterdam is the 2nd largest city of the Netherlands, behind Amsterdam.
Skyscraper wise though, it's the #1 city of Holland,
although its tallest building is not taller than a mere 151 metres (495 feet).
Still the city has more than 30 buildings that are over 70 metres (230 feet) tall,
which makes it the only city in The Netherlands that has some kind of skyline.
The city is also home to the oldest skyscraper of the country
(het Witte Huis, 42m/138f, 11 stories, 1898), although most of the city
and older buildings were destroyed during bombings in World War II.
Rotterdam also has one of the largest seaports in the world.
It used to be the biggest in the world,
but it was overtaken a couple of years ago by ports in Shanghai and Singapore.

On the pictures: a couple of skyline views from three different viewing points,
with in the middle picture the city's two tallest (Delftse Poort I and Millennium Tower).
The last picture was taken from the observation deck of the Euromast.

Above: Delftse Poort I, the tallest building of Rotterdam and The Netherlands (151m/495f, 41 stories, 1992).
Next to this building, a smaller version called Delftse Poort II (93m/305f, 25 stories, 1992) is situated.

Above: the 2nd tallest skyscraper of Rotterdam: Millennium Tower.
The building is 149m/489f tall(without spire the height is 132m/433f), has 34 stories
and was completed in 2000. Inside the building there are offices and a hotel.

Above: the 3rd tallest skyscraper and tallest residential tower of Rotterdam: Montevideo.
The building is 140m/458f (with the M on top the height is even 152m/500f), has 43 stories
and was completed in 2005. The M isn't included in the official height, since it's not part of the architectural design.
It was added later. It would make it though the tallest building of The Netherlands, if it were to be counted.
The tallest residential building in The Netherlands is currently situated in
Tilburg (142m/465f, 48 stories).

On the 4th picture a small building (with the little green towers) can be seen.
It's the former headquarters of the Holland-America Line.
Since 1993, this building is occupied by Hotel New York and is one of the biggest
monumental attractions of the city.

Above: Medische Faculteit (114m/374f, 27 stories, 1969) of the Erasmus University.
The building was Holland's tallest from 1969 - 1991.

another residential tower.

Above: pictures of Weenatoren (106m/348f, 31 stories, 1990),
Rotterdam's and Holland's tallest residential building for more than a decade (1990-2003).

with World Port Center and Montevideo rising above.
