Above: Sharjah is the third largest emirate (of seven) in the United Arab Emirates.
It lies a few kilometers northeast of Dubai and is known as the cultural capital of the U.A.E.
It is home to over twenty museums, several art galleries, and beautifully restored heritage areas.
Sharjah has just over 400,000 inhabitants.
Skyscraper wise the city has not as much to offer as Dubai does.
At the moment, its tallest building is a mere 43 stories tall,
but several buildings are being built and are being planned at the moment
that will be a lot taller when completed in the next few years.
Not much information (yet) is available about the buildings of Sharjah.
Of most buildings a height is missing, and sometimes even a name.
On this page, I have tried to give you a general impression of what kind of (tall) architecture
can be found in Sharjah. It is by no means a compilation of all its tallest buildings,
but it gives you an impression of some of the tallest and some of the most distinctive ones.
It simply is an introduction to the high-rises of Sharjah.
On the pictures: three skyline views.
The middle picture gives a view towards the buildings on
the southwestern part of Al Buhaira Corniche Road, with Khalid Lagoon in front.
The first and third picture show the tallest buildings of the
southeastern part of Al Buhaira Corniche Road.

Above: when the pictures were shot (March 2005), this building was still Sharjah's tallest: Al Noor Tower.
This residential tower has 43 stories and was completed early 2004. No height is available.
Later in 2005, Al Noor Tower will be overtaken by the 48 story high Al Suwaidi Tower,
but this tower won't be Sharjah's tallest for long,
as it will be overtaken by a few 200+ metres towers in the next few years.

Above left: Al Buhaira Tower (37 stories, 2000, no height available),
seen from the southeast and the southwest.
Above right: Al Reem Plaza Building (106m/348f, 32 stories, 1998),
seen from the south and southwest.

Above left: Al Yasmin Tower. This residential tower has 34 stories. No other info is available.
Above middle left: another new tall skyscraper in Sharjah.
The building was still under construction when the pictures were taken.
No info is available, but the tower has about 38 stories and will be completed in 2005.
Above right: a front and back view of Tariq Tower (32 stories, 2002; no height available).

Above left: two pictures of Bukhatir Tower (31 stories, no other info available).
Above middle right: Al Maho Tower (31 stories, no other info available).
Above right: Al Ghafly Tower (28 stories, 2005). It's a residential tower, but no height is available.

Above left: Al Durrah Centre (no height available, 28 stories, 2001).
Above middle: the reflective 'marble' on top,
which can be found on the upper floors on the south side of the building,
with Al Yasmin Tower, Al Kaloti Tower and Tariq Tower in the reflection.
Above right: Al Buhaika Tower (24 stories, no other info available).

Above left: Crescent Tower (no height available, 23 stories, 2004).
Above middle: another green/golden coloured tower. Unfortunately,
no info at all is available for this tower.
Above right: one of many residential towers which can be found in the suburbs of Sharjah,
when driving into town from Dubai. This one is 20 stories tall. Other info is missing.

Above: in the next few years Sharjah's skyline will change.
For 2007 a 304m/997f tall, 54 stories tower (Sharjah World Trade & Expo Center) is proposed,
while seven to ten towers taller than 200m/650f are currently under construction.
These will be completed in 2006 and 2007.
On the pictures, are four of the buildings that are currently under construction.
On the far left is Al Anwar Tower, which will be 46 stories tall and will be completed in 2006.
Next to it is a rendition (taken at the building site) of Al Ameera Tower.
This tower will be 225m/738f tall, will have 61 stories, and should be completed in 2006.
In March of 2005 work had just commenced on this tower
The third picture shows the building sign with a rendition of Sahab Tower.
This tower will have a height of 217m/712f, with 56 stories in 2006.
The last picture shows the building sign of Bukkhamseen Tower.
This building should be completed in 2006 as well, and will have 53 stories.
No height of this building is available yet.
